UFO Sightings - Fun in the Skies of "Merrie Olde England"

England has had as many UFO sightings as anyone else in the world.
One report that intrigued me were the sightings of August 13th and 14th of 1956.

At Royal Air Force Station Bentwaters 80 miles North of London, their radar picked up an extremely fast moving object at about 10:00 PM.
An object estimated to be moving at around 10,000 miles per hour.
Yes.
Ten thousand miles per hour.
That would be around Mach 13.

And the UFO was at only 2,000 feet!It was so low that it flashed underneath a Douglas C-47 Skytrain military transport that was in the air.

If that wasn’t bad enough, at 11:00 PM, the whole show started again.

This time at RAF Lakenheath, 50 some odd miles Northeast of Bentwaters, a de Havilland DH 112 Venom was on a routine practice interception drill when they were alerted to a UFO in the area.
The UFO was confirmed on radar and the Venom saw it on radar as well and set a course to intercept.

Closing in, the pilot radioed that he had his guns locked on it when the UFO shot away.
Then suddenly, the UFO was behind the Venom.
According to ground radar the target circled behind the intercept.
The pilot tried for ten minutes to shake the UFO, but it easily matched every move.

The Venom was running low on gas so the pilot had no alternative but to head back to the base.
Interestingly, and as seems to be the case with a lot of UFOs, it followed him to within almost ten miles of the base and just stopped, hovering there.
A second Venom came into range at this point but oddly, developed engine problems as it closed in on the location and had to turn back.

The entire episode was watched from not one, but two different ground radar stations and the Venom’s own radar.

In 2008, the Discovery Channel show UFO Hunters had an epiosde called "Military vs. UFOs" that focused on RAF Bentwaters' 1956 and 1980 UFO incidents.
1980?
It happened again?
Yep...
Bentwaters is near the location of the infamous December 1980 UFO incident in Rendlesham Forest.
