No...not the Seattle rock band.
Foo Fighters were what World War II Allied aviators called UFOs.
This was a little before Kenneth Arnold and his "saucers".
Actually the first "formal" report was in 1944...and things really picked up speed after that.
The official story was that the highly trained pilots were mistaken.
These weird lights in the sky were light reflecting off ice crystals, St. Elmo's fire, or some other type of electromagnetic weirdness.
One of these lights reflecting off ice crystals chased a fighter plane from the 415th Night Fighter Squadron through a series of complicated aerial maneuvers as the plane tried to lose the "ice crystals" which finally veered off and left.
A member of the Squadron gave the "phenomena" the name "foo fighters" from the Smokey Stover cartoon strip popular at the time.
Actually he added a word before foo fighter...but we don’t use that word in polite company.
This "St. Elmo's fire" was busy.
Round balls of light were chasing planes all over Germany.
And these lights could not be outrun or shot down.
The pilots even started referring to them as "kraut fireballs" because they were convinced they were secret German weapons.
But...it turns out the German and Japanese pilots were running into the same thing, thinking they were ours.
All these experienced fighter pilots confused by a simple phenomena.
Sad isn’t it?
In 1963 and 1964 UFO sightings took a weird turn. There had been a few sightings reported over the years of small UFOs. But in 1963 and 1964, those sightings picked up.
On August 4th 1963 near Wayne City, Illinois, a car sized UFO was reported that followed a car on the ground from Mt. Vernon to Wayne City.
On August 9th, Mt. Vernon, Illinois, a bright red light, about the size of a washtub followed a car down Centralia road. This report was made by the former Mayor of Mt. Vernon.
On October 31st (yes Halloween) in Daylston, Victoria, Australia an 8 to 12 foot long object buzzed a deliveryman on his rounds, and followed his van as he tried to get away.
On April 30th, 1964 at the Canyon Ferry Reservoir in Montana, a family on vacation sighted an egg shaped object about the size of a car hover, then land, some 100 feet from them. The object took off, but left burn marks on the ground.
On May 24th in Millinocket, Maine, two witness reported a fiery sphere less than two feet across hovering over a road. They stopped their car and got out to take a better look. Getting a better look they freaked out and ran back to the car. The sphere followed. It hovered about 10 feet from the car and the whole time the car would not crank. When the sphere left, the car cranked up.
On June 14th, 1964 in Dale, Indiana a man reported that an object about the size of a basketball landed in his backyard accompanied by weird EMP type effects.
On July 27th in Denver, Colorado, a white ball of fire about the size of a car was reported. Possibly a meteor right? Except it was sighted going up not down.
On August 15th in New York City, a bullet shaped object about 10 feet long and 5 feet wide was reported.
All of these were small UFOs. Some as small as a basketball or a washtub. Perhaps they were drones of some type. And they seemed to like to chase cars for some strange reason.
I wonder if this these reports are where they got the idea for the movie"*batteries not included" years later?
Back in the middle of May 1958, Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana got a weird visitor that hovered over the atomic weapons and the fighter jet hangers. On August 4th, 1958, they came back.
A Field Investigations Squadron guard on patrol looked up and saw a huge delta wing craft flying right over him. Now true, we did have the delta winged F-102 Delta Dagger and the F-106 Delta Dart that were in testing stages at the time. So it is possible that one could have been flying over the base, though most likely it would have been at a testing facility.
Now here is the problem with that. The object was almost totally silent, save for a slight whistling sound. No jet engine sounds. There were no engines visible, no tail and no exhaust. And the witness was FIS, which is a branch of the United States Air Force Office of Special Investigations. They are trained in "Threat assessment". He didn't recognize the aircraft so he called it in. The object was also observed on the base radar.
So with another UFO cruising over Malmstrom, why weren't fighter jets scrambled to intercept? Well the USAF wanted to know that too. Several higher ups got burned just for that.
The official USAF conclusion? It was indeed a delta wing wing fighter, probably an F-102 or an F-106. But wouldn't our own planes tell us where they were? Even a test flight?
Things started off with a bang in 1955 with this sighting in February.
Captain Eric Melrose "Winkle" Brown is one of the, if not the, best test pilots of all time.
He started flying at the age of eight, piloting a Gloster Gauntlet biplane while sitting on his father's knee.
Eric went on to fly over 400 different types of aircraft....more than anyone else in history.
He was taught by Ernst Udet, who was the second greatest German flying ace of World War I, right behind the infamous Red Baron.
He fought in World War 2, wrote over 15 books about aviation and was decorated more than a Christmas tree.
Eric's life was even the subject of a BBC Two documentary.
So I think it is safe to say that Eric knew just a little bit about aircraft.
Okay?
Eric was flying a de Havilland DH.100 Vampire British jet fighter over Fishguard, a coastal town in Pembrokeshire, South West Wales.
There, he sighted a disc shaped craft.
Well being one of the greatest pilots ever, he did what came naturally.
He took off after it.
But the Vampire with a top speed of over 500 mph and a ceiling of 42,000 feet could not close in on it.
This sighting came from a man that knew every type of aircraft there was and had flown them.
He had no idea what it was.
Eric passed away at the age of 97 on February 21st, 2016.
Since Kenneth Arnold, the saucer shaped UFO was king. However in 1955, in a move that would make Dr. Freud sit up and take notice, cigar shaped UFOs began to take the lead. Sometimes a cigar isn't just a cigar....
Also more and more UFOs were being sighted not only in groups, but also in formation.
Another odd turn was that UFOs were being spotted that seemed to have portholes or windows in them.
On April 8th, 1955 near Rockford, Illinois, jets allegedly intercepted, fired on and destroyed a UFO. And according to reports, just before it blew up, the ship ejected a small round object that shot past the jets and straight up into the sky. Escape pod?
On Oct. 14th, 1955, Senator Richard B. Russell, Jr. (Democrat from Georgia and chairman of the Armed Services Committee) reported seeing a disc-shaped craft...while visting Russia.
Colorado State Senator S.T. Taylor reported a UFO on November 25th, 1955 in LaVeta, Colorado. The Colorado sighting was unusual not because it was another Senator, but because the UFO was described as "luminous green/blue and jellylike". And this UFO was sighted at 10:30 AM, in broad daylight.
Even before the famed Kenneth Arnold sighting or even the Roswell crash, the skies over the Earth were lighting up.
For instance, the Scandinavian ghost rockets.
Between the months of May and December of 1946 over 2,000 sightings of "Ghost Rockets" were reported by Finnish eyewitnesses,
Of course the fun-crushing scientists said that the sightings were actually meteors.
And yes a few did occur during the Perseid meteor shower.
But a lot did not.
The weird thing about this though is that a lot of military investigators rejected the meteor theory outright.
Why?
Because many of the observed objects didn’t fall vertically, they flew horizontally.
And many hovered.
Some moved very slow and some were even in formation.
All were seen in broad daylight.
Some observers said they looked like rockets (hence the name) and some had fins and some didn’t.
Some people believed it was the Russians playing with V-2s they captured from Germany.
There was even a "Swedish Ghost Rocket committee" formed to study the cases.
They concluded that the sightings were indeed real.
As in the people DID see something.
What...they didn’t know.
The US even admitted that they had tracked some of the Ghost Rockets on radar.
In 1948, USAFE (United States Air Force Europe) released a report that said that the "phenomena" could not be credited to any technology presently known on earth.
Yeah...that’s what the military said.
It went on to say that the technology that created them came from "possibly outside the earth".
Yep.
That ain't the scariest part though folks.
It seems Greece was having similar problems.
So they dispatched their top man, Dr. Paul Santorinis to investigate.
This guy worked on the first A-bomb, guidance systems for missiles and he worked on advanced radar systems.
Basically...he knew his stuff.
Although covered up at the time due to security reasons, years later Santorinis said publicly that the "Ghost Rockets" were not missiles.
His research had been shut down by the government because they didn’t want the public to know that there was technology out there that we had "no possibility of defense" against.
Evidently Earthlings weren’t the only ones out and about on New Years Eve in 1954.
New Jersey had a sighting that was seen by quite a few people.
From 10:35 PM to 12:05 AM, witnesses saw three to twelve (depending on where they were reporting from) white oval objects, slightly smaller than the full moon just hovering in the sky.
The objects moved around, switched places and orbited each other.
The thing about this sighting is that it had multiple independent witnesses.
The sightings of the same objects started in Woodbury New Jersey and ended in Surf City, New Jersey, with a detour over Toms River NJ.
All in all there were over twenty sightings, coming from not only civilians but also a Navy pilot, a police chief, and multiple police officers.
Like I said, these sightings went on for over an hour and a half.
Some were observed through binoculars and there were estimated at a height of four miles and about 1,500 feet wide.
As far as the reports say, no fighters were scrambled to intercept.
A quick look at Google News yields four news stories with Reptilians featured. Everything from an article about how "Secret services 'must be made more transparent'" to "What will the 2011 Model of UFO Look Like?" contain either references to Reptilians in the article itself or comments about the articles.
Searching for Reptilians on Google yields hits for David Icke, shapeshifting reptilians, greys, reptiles, Illuminati, reptoids, aliens and reptilian agenda, which leads me to believe that these searches aren't being run by children looking for info for school projects.
I know here, just about every article I do on Reptilians goes to the top, or close to the top of the most read pages here.
So people still hold the Reptilians in high regard in the Conspiracy circles.
What is the fascination?
Well I pointed out in an article I wrote elsewhere that Reptilians have figured into science fiction and fantasy lore for a long time. And that's not even counting early mythology.
The earliest fictional account I could find about Reptilians (on TV) was in 1967, when the British TV show Dr Who introduced the Ice Warriors. The Ice warriors were reptilian humanoids, but their features were usually hidden under heavy armor.
Then in 1973, Dr. Who introduced the Draconians, a space-faring feudal civilization of reptilian humanoids. The Draconians in Dr. Who were articulate and had an advanced culture, very much like feudal Japan and they came from the planet Draconia.
Now Draconians are actually listed as a race of reptoids on many websites devoted to Reptilians. They are even mentioned in the Dulce Wars of 1979-1985. The "real" Draconians are said to have come from colonies in Alpha Draconis. But, they originated here on Earth.
By the way, Dr.Who also had another reptilian race of beings known as The Silurians. They were actually scientifically advanced sentient humanoids who predated the dawn of man. So they originated on Earth, like the "real" Draconians. And also the Silurians live underground.
The Silurians debuted in 1970, a full 29 years before David Icke's The Biggest Secret came out.
Icke was born in 1952, so that would have made him about 15 when the Ice Warriors showed up on Dr. Who.
Of course if you really wanna tie Icke's Reptilian Conspiracy to the media, look at the original "V" that debuted in 1983, 16 years before The Biggest Secret came out.
Have Pyramids become the new UFO shape? Or are all the hoaxers just jumping on the bandwagon?
On YouTube there are videos of pyramid shaped UFOs from Moscow, China, England and Mexico. It appears the saucer is dead now. Okay I know not all the shapes are exactly pyramids. Some are more like octahedrons, but you see what I mean.
And yes, looking at it with a skeptical eye, you can find all kinds of reasonable explanations for these. Kites, balloons CGI etc.
But what sticks in the back of my mind is that when I saw the plane hit that tower on 9/11, all I could think was,"That looks fake, like it came out of a movie".
But why pyramids now? Is it some kind of Stargate references? I'm no CGI expert, but wouldn't a saucer shape be easier to fake than a pyramid?
I notice we haven't had one over New York City yet.
And that's another point. With something that massive just hovering there, wouldn't there be thousands of pictures and cell phone videos from different angles?
Maybe not. Last year I watched a white triangle hover in the sky for about 5 minutes while I was standing in a Wal-Mart parking lot. It was clear as day, and I just stood there looking up at it while peole filed past on foot and drove by me, not a single one looking up to see what I was looking at. To this day I have no idea what it was...but it was triangular. And no, my cell doesn't have a camera.
But wouldn't interceptors be scrambled? Unless of course the object was cloaked to radar. Then all they would get is a bunch of confused phone calls to the local police. The police might respond, see it and call it into the proper authorities, but by then, the object would probably be long gone.
Of course all of these might be faked. Until something lands and we all see it, I'm not going one way or the other too hard.

BTW, the Tennessee Wildlife and Resources Agency believes the animal may be a red fox with sarcoptic mange. Maybe he did the poor creature a favor. Or MAYBE if it wasn't afraid of people, he could have called Animal Control and had it picked up.
We don't have to worry about the Government concealing strange things from us, given half a chance, we'll just kill 'em anyway.

And while we are talking about movies, here's another upcoming film called "The Fourth Kind".
The film is directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi and stars Milla Jovovich, Elias Koteas and Will Patton.
The Fourth Kind is about an ongoing unsolved mystery in Nome, Alaska, where there have been a disproportionate number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years and there are accusations of a federal cover up.
Of course if you get the title, you know the film maker is blaming aliens.
You know : Close Encounter of the First kind : "A sighting of one or more unidentified flying objects" Close Encounter of the Second kind : "An observation of a UFO, and associated physical effects from the UFO" Close Encounter of the Third kind : "An observation of "animate beings" observed in association with a UFO sighting" Close Encounter of the Fourth kind : "A human is abducted by a UFO or its occupants"
And there is also another.... Close Encounter of the Fifth kind : "UFO cases of lasting physiological impact, such as serious injury or death."
"The Fourth Kind" has reenactments of interviews with supposed abductees, and also has archival footage integrated into the film.
Of course all of this is woven into a story...so it will make a good movie.
In the film, Milla Jovovich plays psychotherapist Dr. Abigail Tyler.
I did a little research on that name and found this at Alaska Psychiatry Journal .org...

Yep, I'd mistake a F-117A Nighthawk for a black triangle the length of a football field or bigger.
And the Phoenix lights were military flares no matter that former Arizona Governor Fife Symington III said....

Now some people may call UFO incidents outlandish. But what about an event in which a ship lands in front of witnesses, a nine foot tall alien gets out accompanied by a robot (Klaatu barada nikto!) and the alien sees a young boy and disintegrates him with a ray gun? Yep it sounds like a B movie from the 50s, but this alleged encounter took place in Voronezh, Russia on September 27, 1989. Why didn't we hear about it? Well we did kinda, the account was actually carried in America by the St. Louis Dispatch, on October 11, 1989. The article was titled "Strange Tale of the 3-Eyed Alien That Zapped a Boy!" They got it from the Russian newspaper Tass. Where did Tass get it? They got it from Genrikh Silanov, head of the Voronezh Geophysical Laboratory. But he says that the Russian newspaper took liberties with the story that he related. So here we have a case of what is a cover up and what is so unverifiable that there's no point publishing it.

I know it's a Marvel Comics thing. That's evident. But it kinda rattled me for several reasons.
1. "Embrace Change"..."Change we can believe in. " Sound familiar?
2. The site is about Marvel comics characters called Skrulls. Skrulls are green-skinned reptilian humanoids with large pointed ears and corrugated chins, they were created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1962. In the new Ultimate Marvel Universe they are known on Earth as the Chitauri. (Later of course the "real" Skrulls showed up and didn't like being confused with the Chitauri, whom they call "terrorists"). Credo Mutwa, a Zulu shaman, claims that the Zulu people have known of a reptilian species called the Chitauli for centuries. I'm pretty sure the Marvel writers grabbed a hold of that similarity to give their "myth" a basis in "reality".
3. The video kinda freaks me out and makes me wonder what a "real" disclosure commercial would look like. The conspiracy nut in me immediately went " Oh my God! They're testing the waters to see how we'll react!" when I watched it.
Okay, I'm not saying that our Commander in Chief is a reptilian. Or even a reptilian puppet. And I'm not saying that Marvel Comics is a Reptilian propaganda front. (Maybe Marvel is trying to warn us. After all, they are the home of Super Heroes....LOL)
But when coincidences like that pile up, I get interested. Especially when I don't believe in coincidences.
With testing, there were some criteria that had to be met, there were not much, in fact extremely few, but they had to be met. First, not every world gets tested the same way, for each and every given environment, to each and every world, THAT world gets tested according to this individual given environment and social setting. Thus, Earth was tested solely in a way that met with Earth's social settings. As such, my Father had told me that even when I think I am alone, do certain things as tho I am alone, but for testing reasons. Now ALL TESTING was done as a pop quiz, we never announce our tests...Like hey we are testing you guys now, okay!...NO NO NO NEVER! When we test, we simply test, to catch all of you as you are, and that is the whole point of the tests. But anyway, it was told to me that when testing Earth, I MUST AT TIMES EVEN WHEN I THINK I AM ALONE, DO CERTAIN DEEDS AS IF I AM ALONE, BUT STRICTLY FOR TESTING REASONS! At this time, I actually had no idea why, but I abided with the strict code of testing when it came to Earth. It turned out in my adulthood, I found out I had been filmed all my life, and that was why there was a different code of ethics when testing humanity...actually it turned out that ALL OF SOCIETY was filmed and still is and for the most part, most of society does not even know...they call this secret filming by the government Big Brother...and yes, it is quite real and all things are filmed...without your consent or knowledge! Thus was I, therefore as I said, all planets being tested differently, under these Earth social conditions, I had to abide to the code of testing Earth, in this manner, as it would fit the environment of Earth...and the whole point of tests are always to catch the natives at their naked self...unprepared and as they are.

1916 a UK pilot near Rochford reported a row of lights, like lighted windows on a railway carriage, that rose and disappeared.
1923 Quetta, Pakistan: no details, but I did find what could be an interesting link..."Flying Officer Desmond Reginald Loch. RAF. Beloved son of Colonel and Mrs. H.F. Loch. Born 27 Feb. 1901. Killed flying near Quetta 7 April 1923." Let the Conspiracy Experts have at it.
1926, a pilot reported six "flying manhole covers" between Wichita, Kansas and Colorado Springs, Colorado.
1926, an airmail pilot over Nevada was forced to land by a huge, wingless cylindrical object.
1926, while traveling in the Humboldt Mountains of Tibet's Kokonor region, Nicholas Roerich reported that members of his expedition saw "something big and shiny reflecting sun, like a huge oval moving at great speed".
1930 Mandurah, West Australia: In 1982 a 67 year old woman saw a picture of "ET", Steven Spielberg's cute alien creation. It made her think of an experience she had as a 15 year old girl, near the estuary at Mandurah, Western Australia. She supplied a report to the Perth UFO Research Group which stated: "(In 1930 I was) sitting reading with my parents in a humpy, on a block in Mandurah, in Greary Rd, by the light of a hurricane lamp, with the door partly open. The time (was) about 8 pm as we went to bed early. "A little pink creature walked in. (It was) about 24 inches in height (with) large ears, big bulbous eyes, covered with a film, small hands, large feet, slit of a mouth, no hair, and shiny as if wet or oily. "We were terrified and my father went white and being a religious man said it was the work of the devil. "Picking up a prawning net, he picked it up in it and it made a noise like 'EE...EE' and my father put it outside. We never saw it again and went to bed feeling very scared. This was in 1930 and I never thought any more about it until I saw a picture of 'ET,' although only its eyes were the same. ... It did not have a round body, more straight down like a child's body. (It's shape was) like an elf."
1933 Italy: in 1933, Mussolini had gathered together the greater part of scientists headed by G. Marconi and maybe formed the first worldwide secret organization for exploration of the UFO phenomena. The organization was active from 1933 to 1940 and they gathered many documents and pictures.
1936 Black Forest, Germany: A German writer, John Von Helsing, describes the discovery of a crashed saucer in the Black Forest, near Freiburg, in 1936 and says that this technology was taken and combined with the information the Vril Society had received through channeling and was made into a further project called the Haunebu.
1938 summer Czernica, Poland: near the two villages of Czernica and Kopaniec in the Góry Kaczawskie Mts., in Jelenia Góra Province, a strange incident occurred. Their inhabitants noticed an odd, disc-shaped UFO, which dropped from the sky. After that, the SS troops from the Jelenia Góra garrison came and brought the disc to Jelenia Góra town, where it was been examined by three Nazi German scientists: Prof. Max von Laue, Prof. Wernher von Heisenberg and Prof. Otto Hahn. Next that UFO was delivered either to the special Institute in Berlin - Dahlem, or to the top secret underground facility in the Góry Sowie Mts. The legend says that the Germans worked on the Nazi A-bomb there. Finally in 1944/45 they constructed the disc-shaped plane better known as the V-7 Vril or Haunebu , Hitler's miraculous weapon.
1941 West of San Diego, Ca: Dr. Wolf provided a revisionist history about the beginning of the modern UFO era. "The first UFO came down in 1941 into the ocean west of San Diego, and was retrieved by the Navy." The Navy has held a leadership position in UFO matters ever since.
1941 Spring Cape Girardeau, Missouri: Reverend William Huffman, who was pastor of the Red Star Baptist Church, claimed that he was summoned to pray over crash victims outside of Cape Girardeau, Missouri in 1941.
1941 July 4 Tinian Island, Oceania: alleged crash.
If you think that UFO sightings, crashes and cover ups are a recent thing, think again. If it is a conspiracy, it's a far reaching one. I like these old accounts because they can't be explained away as satellites, weather balloons, military testing etc. I got these accounts from all over the web, but some of the best links I'm gonna list at the end.
1864 September Cadotte Pass: about the middle of last September, James Lumley was engaged in trapping in the mountains, about seventy-five or one hundred miles above the great falls of the Upper Missouri, and in the neighborhood of what is known as Cadotte Pass. Just after sunset one evening he beheld a bright, luminous body in the heavens, which was moving with a great rapidity in an easterly direction. It was plainly visible for at least five seconds, when it suddenly separated into particles, resembling, as Mr. Lumley described it, the bursting of a skyrocket in the air. A few minutes later he heard a heavy explosion, which jarred the earth very perceptibly, and this was shortly after followed by a rumbling sound, like a tornado sweeping through the forest. A strong wind sprang up about the same time, but as suddenly subsided. The air was also filled with a peculiar odor of a sulphurous character.
1878 January 25 The Denison Daily News wrote that local farmer John Martin had reported seeing a large, dark, circular flying object resembling a balloon flying "at wonderful speed." Martin also said it appeared to be about the size of a saucer, the first known use of the word "saucer" in association with a UFO. If true, this would pre-date the Kenneth Arnold usage.
1882 November a UFO was observed by astronomer Edward Walter Maunder of the Greenwich Royal Observatory and some other European astronomers.
1884 June 6 Holdredge, Nebraska: Holdredge's weekly newspaper, the Nebraska Nugget published a story that had occurred to some cowboys from Dundy County, of a cylindrical object that crashed on the prairie and left bits of machinery and gear wheels behind, glowing from the heat.

1897 April 17 Aurora, Texas, An alleged UFO crash and burial of alien pilot, possibly explained as a hoax.
1897 April 19 Leroy, Kansas, An account by Alexander Hamilton of Leroy, Kansas supposedly occurred about April 19, 1897, and was published in the Yates Center Farmer¹s Advocate of April 23. Hamilton, his son, and a tenant witnessed an airship hovering over his cattle pen. Upon closer examination, the witnesses realized that a red cable from the airship had lassoed a heifer, but had also become entangled in the pen's fence. After trying unsuccessfully to free the heifer, Hamilton cut lose a portion of the fence, then "stood in amazement to see the ship, cow and all rise slowly and sail off." Some have suggested this was the earliest report of cattle mutilation (In 1982, however, UFO researcher Jerome Clark debunked this story, and confirmed via interviews and Hamilton's own affidavit that the story was a successful attempt to win a Liar's Club competition to create the most outlandish tall tale).
1904, there was a sighting by three crew members on the USS Supply 300 miles west of San Francisco, reported by Lt. Frank Schofield, later to become Commander-in-Chief of the Pacific Battle Fleet.
1907 Burlington, Vermont, USA: The mid-air explosion of a UFO over Burlington, Vermont, on the eastern shore of Lake Champlain, is one of the strangest incidents of "the Airship Era" in ufology.
