"A couple of weeks ago, I was sitting at home listening to the James Whale show on Talksport Radio in London. I generally try not to listen to his show too much (it makes me vaguely ill), but this particular evening David Icke was on.
Now David Icke is a fascinating character. He's charming, he's witty and he's articulate. But he's also deeply paranoid. There's a job-lot of references to 'they' and not a lot on who 'they' actually are.
He sees shadowy government agents at every turn - that's right, anyone wearing a yellow jacket (parking attendant, cop, security guard or just anyone that ever tells David to do anything) is a government agent. Even if they don't know it themselves. The Illuminati haunt almost every utterance and nothing is ordinary. Everything is extraordinary.
But there's nothing there. I'm sorry, there just isn't. There's nothing. Nothing. No evidence. No documents. No learned testimony. No verifiable facts. And whilst would-be Forteans such as ourselves here at Blather.net are supposed to remain impartial and seek a condition of 'negative capability', there are occasions when the sheer critical mass of acceptable stupidity and the ease with which so many are buying into this half-assed, hysterical, unverifiable conjecture as though it were fact, simply becomes too much to bear. And, it is no different when it comes to 9/11. "

Like the Agatha Christie twist in Murder on the Orient Express, there have been many killers of the American Republic.
There is of course the obvious culprit, finally and widely acknowledged these days. This is the Spirit (and reality) of Empire, which has provided a none-too-subtle knife in the back. Since the days of Rome, people have understood the incompatibility of republican institutions with the tools of conquest and empire. By the time of Caesar, for instance, Roman rule stretched throughout the Mediterranean, dominating peoples as diverse as those under American military hegemony today.
The problem back then was that the old Roman Senate, already with five centuries of history behind it, was designed for ruling Romans–in Rome. The Senate managed well enough during Rome’s conquest of Italy in the third century BC, and even during the pivotal Punic Wars with Carthage. But ruling faraway (and valuable) lands like Gaul and Egypt were not so simple. Caesar knew this as well as anyone. Solution: end of the Republic, and the creation of such offices as Dictator for Life. Then, after his assassination, Emperor. Indeed, we may wish to remember that Caesar’s successor, his nephew, the Emperor Augustus, stated that his own absolute rule was only temporary, and that he eventually intended to restore the republic.
Ultimately, republics cannot wear the armor of empire. That is because two central principles of republican philosophy–freedom and self-government–wither under its weight.
Empires mean war. Wars mean the stifling of dissent and constriction of free thought at home. This happens every time. Repeat: every time. It has happened in America today. Freedom of expression is a meaningless concept if everyone thinks the same. It is how dissenters are treated that enables us to measure how free a society is.
Empires also prevent people from governing themselves. That is because wars destroy truth. Without freedom of information from the elected and appointed leaders of our government–that is, without truth–how can ‘the people’ rule? This was a point heavily emphasized by America’s Founding Fathers. “An enlightened citizenry,” wrote Jefferson, “is indispensable for the proper functioning of a republic.” Madison agreed: “The diffusion of knowledge is the only true guardian of liberty.” But as Phillip Knightly observed in his classic study of the subject, the first casualty in war is truth. This fact is once again in evidence regarding America’s current fiascos in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The so-called War on Terror is simply the latest manifestation of the new order of things, of what we may call the Permanent Warfare State. In such a situation, the old republican virtues of freedom and self-government cannot survive.
One might argue that Empires don’t have to result in reduction of rights at home. Look at Britain, not a republic of course, but at least a “liberal” monarchy. The British Empire spread around the world, and Brits enjoyed a higher degree of freedom than many other peoples, at least during the Empire’s heyday during the 19th century. That’s true, but the other side of it is that we don’t know how free the British people would have been without Empire. And let us not forget that there was also a great deal of “unfreedom” in Britain, even during glory days of Britannia.
The American Empire Lest you doubt that America is indeed a bona fide empire that garrisons the world, consider that according to the Pentagon itself, the U.S. military has 860 bases in 41 foreign countries. That’s twenty percent of all the nations on Earth.

"The world's smallest and thinnest RFID tags were introduced yesterday by Hitachi. Tiny miracles of miniaturization, these RFID chips (Radio Frequency IDentification chips) measure just 0.05 x 0.05 millimeters. "

The new RFID chips have a 128-bit ROM for storing a unique 38 digit number, like their predecessor. Hitachi used semiconductor miniaturization technology and electron beams to write data on the chip substrates to achieve the new, smaller size.
Hitachi's mu-chips are already in production; they were used to prevent ticket forgery at last year's Aichi international technology exposition. RFID 'powder,' on the other hand, is so much smaller that it can easily be incorporated into thin paper, like that used in paper currency and gift certificates.

These tiny RFID tags could be worked into any product; combined with RFID readers built into doorways, theft of consumer goods would be practically impossible.

These devices could also be used to identify and track people. For example, suppose you participated in some sort of protest or other organized activity. If police agencies sprinkled these tags around, every individual could be tracked and later identified at leisure, with powerful enough tag scanners.

Byrd's father had the window removed several weeks after the Nov. 22, 1963, assassination because visitors were stealing pieces of it, Byrd said. The window was on display at the elder Byrd's home until his death in 1986. The younger Byrd lent the window to the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas for 12 years before recently reclaiming it.
The Sixth Floor Museum, located in the former book depository building, contains exhibits related to the life, legacy and assassination of President Kennedy.

Carrion is international director of the Mutual UFO Network, one of the largest groups in the world dedicated to examining sightings of unidentified flying objects and otherworldly phenomena.
The nonprofit's world headquarters recently moved from a storefront in Littleton into Carrion's spacious home. He directs 400 field investigators - all certified by MUFON - to interview witnesses, examine possible landing sites and review weather and astronomical data to determine whether a sighting was a balloon, atmospheric blip or something unexplainable.
Most can be explained, Carrion said. But about 10 percent to 15 percent of the 2,400 cases the group takes on each year turn out to be something that escapes human logic, he said.

The Sun Online - News: French to reveal UFO secrets: "UFO sightings in France are set to be revealed - exciting paranormal enthusiasts in the UK.
The archive of over 1,600 incidents will be released by France's National Space Studies Centre (CNES) and has led to calls for the UK to publish all its sightings.
The highly-anticipated online archive was due to go live this month but has now been delayed until at least March, said the space agency.
Nick Pope, former head of the Ministry of Defence’s UFO projects division, said the France archive could track the paths of unidentified flying objects across the Channel."

Nick said: “I really welcome the French move. There is a huge interest in UFO sightings. It will be great to see if there are reports in there which relate to classic UFO sightings.”
Nick believes an online archive should be published here and claims that many reports gathered by the Ministry of Defence are still kept under wraps.
He said: “There is a lot of files which have not seen the light of day. If the MoD published them, it would be a huge step forward.
“I don’t believe there is a cover up but the MoD leaves itself open to that accusation.”
However the MoD said it has released information on sightings on a annual basis.
A spokesman told the Sun online: “We regularly receive Freedom of Information requests on UFOs and these are published in full over time.
The MoD said it remained “open-minded” about the existence of extraterrestrial life-forms.
But added: “To date we know of no evidence that substantiates the existence of these alleged phenomena”.
Yesterday CNES told the Sun online the launch of its archive, dating back 30 years, would be delayed.
A spokeswoman said: "The archive is not online yet. It will be in mid-March."
The archive - likely to be revealed on the CNES website - consists of around 6,000 reports, many relating to the same incident, filed by the public and airline professionals.
Earlier this month agency official Jacques Arnould said: "Often they are made to the Gendarmerie, which provides an official witness statement and some come from airline pilots."
